Entering Contests

Alright, I get to indulge today because tomorrow is my birthday and two really nice things happened to me this week regarding painting. First I got a call that my painting "Carolina Shore", that I have donated to the American Heart Association Art & Wine Gala in May, was selected as one of the ten finalists for the American Artist Magazine 2008 Cover Competition. It will be featured in the September issue (and for my age, being Miss September is very cool!).

The painting "Into the Mist" which is at The Greenhouse Gallery for the Salon International 2008, was selected by George Hallmark for "Honorable Mention of Artistic Excellence".

Anyone who says 'it's not worth entering contests" is missing out on an opportunity to show your work in a grand scale, and with other great artists. If you don't enter - you've already admitted defeat (I have a brave friend who is saving her rejection letters to use in a painting someday!)- I am truly honored to have my work hang next to the big guys!

Sam & Morgan

One more pic this week of Sam and her finacee, Morgan - had a few people ask about him...so here they are! They live in Paris, just bought a new apartment and living out of boxes and plaster dust as they renovate. Morgan is Parisian, and he will say he is Real Parisian - his relatives fought at the Bastille! There is talk of marraige but at this point, no plans as they are up to their ears in work and the renovation (more on Morgan's new job and a link to the web site soon). Sam's is here

The Kids

A couple of people have asked what my children look like, ages, etc - so here they are: Casey is on the left, lives in Philly, is a Brewmaster, and has a son, Jonah who is 8 (and the love of my life!) Samantha lives in Paris, is a Fashion Stylist (basically an art director for the fashion industry) and has a fiancee we all love - Morgan. They have wonderful, independent, happy lives - and I miss them heaps!
