Sometimes I am amazed how blessed I am. When we were in Florence I made an appointment to go see the Florence Acdemy of Art - where I would LOVE to go take a summer class in figure drawing. After the tour, Karen Hagan and I were totally blown away by the student work, and asked if they ever had exhibits and sales. We were then invited to a Student Show that night - and the special guest was going to be Antonio Benedito, aka Tony Bennett!
So here's the short story - we all walked across Forence, found the studio, decided to be "fashionably late", got gelato...and missed him!
But nothing compared to seeing the work of the advanced students. I even pluncked down my meager euros for a drawing by Carlos Madrid (out being framed and will post that next week) that I carefully carried around Italy for 10 days. Check out the site - truly remarkable!
