I woke up the other day thinking about doing this painting for the show at The Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art Gallery in July. It's a two person show for the "Palette to Palate" event, and wanted a piece to represent the show.
Now, the problem with a food still life is keeping the props from being eaten. Chocolate cake could be the hardest one yet as I love sweets. I painted the fork first, ate a bite, then put the rest in the frig overnight to harden up a bit (lights tend to make it droop) The next morning John was going out the door and yelled back to me in the studio "Hey - that cake was really good!
Hope he liked the Cad yellow on the bottom too.
