...a start

This is for those of you who know I'm working on a portrait of 18 people. John calls it the Last Supper II. I thought it would be the worst thing I've ever agreed to, but turns out, not so bad. I'm getting rather attached to all those in it, and proud of the fact I actually got them all in.
Now  for the secret. I have a neighbor who uses a projector for his watercolors, and after four tries to get all the family in on the 24x36 by trial and error, I relented and borrowed the thing. Best decision I've made in a long time. Rather than agonize over placement, it let me enjoy the painting progress after the initial placement. (I still think I "Cheated" but it kept me from drinking so not a bad thing).
Will post as things progress.

I don't think you "cheated"...you just saved yourself tons of time which will lead to a better painting and also give you more time for more paintings. I know how you feel though...it's hard to give in to some technical help when you think you are supposed to draw the whole thing freehand. It's O.K. The impressionists had photography as some help for their works...you just don't hear about that very much. I'll look forward to the progress on this one!
